Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) successfully completed the 2025-2026 season in its agricultural production activities carried out on approximately 3 thousand decares of dry farming land. The Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, the management team, and representatives of relevant academic units also participated in the harvest activities conducted on the university's practice fields and conducted inspections.

In the 2025-2026 production season, barley was grown on 1,500 decares, wheat on 250 decares, oats on 400 decares, and sainfoin on 350 decares of university land. To rest the soil and ensure sustainable productivity, 500 decares were left fallow.

While the production of cereals provides practical contributions to the university's education and research activities, it also significantly supports meeting the demand for quality grains and roughage. The sainfoin included in the production pattern strengthens the natural structure of the soil through nitrogen fixation, contributes to maintaining the balance of organic matter, and supports livestock activities with high-quality roughage production.

Throughout the production season, soil preparation, planting, fertilization, weed control, disease and pest monitoring, and harvest activities were meticulously carried out in accordance with modern agricultural techniques and scientific principles.

MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, who inspected the harvest activities on-site, stated that the university's agricultural practice areas are not only production areas but also important laboratories where students receive practical training and scientific research is conducted.

Rector Dalgar said, "As Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, we see agriculture and livestock as strategic priorities. While providing our students with an educational environment where they can transform their theoretical knowledge into practice through the production activities we carry out on our practice fields, we also make significant contributions to the scientific work of our academics. At the same time, by acting in accordance with sustainable agricultural principles, we protect our soil, use our natural resources efficiently, and implement practices that can serve as examples for regional producers."

Rector Dalgar expressed that the university's understanding of agricultural production aims not only to meet today's needs but also to develop knowledge and practices that will guide the agriculture of the future, stating, "In line with our understanding of a producing university, we bring education, research, and production together under the same roof. By continuously improving our agricultural production activities each year, we contribute to the needs of our university and continue to support our country's sustainable agricultural goals."
